This year, Carers Rights Day is on Thursday 20th November and the theme is

'Know your rights, use your rights.'

As a carer, you have the right to:

  • Ask your GP practice to identify you as a carer

  • Request a free flu jab

  • Request a carer’s assessment (from Social Care services)

  • Be protected against discrimination or harassment

  • Be consulted when the person you care for is discharged from hospital

Working carers also have the right to unpaid carers leave, and to request flexible working.

For more information about your rights as a carer you can visit www.carersuk.org and search for Carers Rights. If you feel your rights are not supported, please contact us for advice.

Locally, we will be holding two Carers Rights Day events on Thursday 20th November this year:

In Chester we will be holding an information session with lunch at

Chester HQ, Nicholas Street, CH1 2NP - 12 - 2pm.

In Northwich we will be hosting an information session with lunch

at our London Road office - 12 - 2pm

We would love to welcome lots of carers to or Carers Rights Day sessions. If you would like to attend either of these events, please contact us on 0300 102 0008 or email bettertogether@cheshireandwarringtoncarers.org
